The Shooting Star
Choice Paper
Sasha was an only child, but that changed when she turned twelve. On January 12, 2004 Rochelle Elizabeth Walker was born. She was a beautiful baby girl, but Sasha was terribly jealous of her. Baby Rochelle got all of her mother’s attention. Every weekend Sasha spent time with her boyfriend, Ben, to get away from the house. One night Ben invited her over to his house. His house was huge. He had a balcony in his room on the second story, so they hung-out there. They were stargazing when all of a sudden a shooting star flew through the sky.
“Better make a wish,” Ben whispered into Sasha’s ear. So, she did. She wished for Rochelle to disappear and for everyone to forget the baby ever existed. A few weeks later…………Sasha woke up and looked at the clock. It was eleven fifteen. Weird, she thought. She usually was awoken by Rochelle’s screaming cries at around eight thirty. Something was wrong.
“Mom! Mom?” Sasha yelled from her bed.
“Yes dear?” She sounded like she was in the kitchen. Sasha slipped on her slippers and ran to the kitchen.
“Where’s the baby?” Sasha asked her mom frantically.
“What baby?” Her mom said confused. Sasha gasped. She remembered the shooting star wish at Ben’s house.
“Mom, I gotta go,” Sasha said suddenly, running to her room to get dressed. When she got there, she threw on some jeans and a pink t-shirt. She ran out of her room, through the hallway, and to the door as she slipped on her sandals. She ran across the street and knocked on Ben’s door.
“Oh, hey,” Ben was still in his pajamas and his hair was all messed up.
“You know that shooting star? Well, I wished Rochelle was never born, and my wish came true!” Sasha said, out of breath.
“How about you come back at eight?” Ben said. So, she did. Luckily, there was another shooting star. She wished Rochelle back, and the next day Sasha was awoken by Rochelle’s cry. After that, everyone lived happily ever after.
